those nameless moments.

12/01/2014

The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you (unknown).

I’ve talked about time before… it’s elusive, but we chase it anyway, hoping to catch it and make it stand still, even if only for a minute.

It’s the in-between in those minutes – those nameless moments (minus social media) – that I’ll remember from Thanksgiving weekend at home-home in Hallock. Enjoying Grandma’s sour cream cookies and apple pie while listening to Grandpa’s stories, laughing at Finley’s pronunciation of the word fox, sweet old hound Zoey’s excited teeth chattering, Nick carving the turkey in a floral apron, cousin girl time, Ami pulling me around in Finley’s sled (and Finley obsessing about being outside, even in 10º temps), reliving high school at a hockey game and trying on my (five sizes too big) letter jacket, making lefse with mom (er, watching her make it), learning the art of distilling at Far North Spirits, Grandma sharing her pumpkin pie recipe, the joyous looks on G+G’s faces when Ami and I surprised them at brunch on our way out of town.

Those are the moments, etched in my memory, that make me smile.

Erin – I heard about this poem recently from a devotional at church council, and it has been on my mind ever since. I thought it synced up beautifully and shared a sentiment with your wonderful post. Nice work. 🙂

I loved reading this one, Sis!!! All those moments. So wonderful, especially in hindsight. And I loved how you summed up TIME. It’s so true. We can only continue to enjoy each small moment in time and hold on to them in our memory… xoxoxo!

This was so refreshing. <3 Love seeing that huge smile on your face – especially in that magnifying glass. So cool. Holidays are a special time to spend with family and friends, and it appears you made the most of it. XO
