october 2021 things.

10/29/2021

I’ve written similar posts in the past, but here we are: revamping going forward in a format that’ll (hopefully) stick! In this series, I share my favorite things from the past month – what I’m watching on one of the streaming services, the book I can’t put down, what I’m wearing on repeat.

With that, here are my October things. Now tell me: what were your favorites from the past month? Let me know in the comments!

Beauty

I know that whether or not you get stretch marks when pregnant is mostly genetic, but I think a good body oil helps, too. I slathered Osea undaria algae body oil all over my belly when pregnant, and not a single stretch mark! I loved the oil so much that I still use it everyday. It smells amazing and hydrates the driest skin.

Fashion

As a kid, I thought the Birkenstocks my aunt always wore were so dorky. Turns out she was ahead of the fashion times because they’re now my favorite shoes (or maybe I’m getting old?! 😆)! I recently bought a pair of suede Bostons, and whoa, they’re comfy (and so ugly they’re cute). Wore them for the first time recently on a three-mile walk and not a single blister.

Recipe

Anyone else struggle with meal planning? We have the best intentions, but without fail, when 5p rolls around most days we ask, “What should we have for dinner?” To help fix that, we started getting Purple Carrot, a plant-based meal kit with the freshest ingredients. We usually get a box every other week, and while it doesn’t completely eliminate our dinner dilemma, it helps a ton and keeps mix up our dinners. Interested in trying a box? Leave a comment, and I’ll send you a free box.

TV/movie

Late to the party, but gosh, I love Ted Lasso so much. The most heart-warming, happy show at a time when everything else in the world seems to (still) be exploding.

Book

I’ve been on mat leave four months and surprisingly have read a few books (yes, babies are a lot of work, but tbh, I’ve had a lot of downtime, too)! My favorite: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It left me thinking about all the different directions my life could have gone had I made different decisions. That said, I wouldn’t change any of them for a second because it lead to to this one, and I love it immensely 🤍

Home

Somehow all of our fuzzy blankets ended up in Luma and Olli’s crates, which left us with nothing cozy for sofa snuggling (we have wool blankets, but even though they look good, trust me, they’re not that great for snuggling). Insta ads got me, and I ordered an UnHide Lil’ Marsh blanket, and whoa… softest blanket ever! Four pounds of fuzzy, snuggly goodness, just in time for winter.

Baby

My go-to baby shower gift going forward: Kyte footie jams and Lewis burp cloths. I reach for both of these over and over and over. The footies have a two-way zipper (zippers for life!) and are made of super soft bamboo fabric, and the burp cloths are big, absorbent and the cutest prints (alligator and clouds are my favorites).

Sport

I’ve long been a trucker hat fan, but I recently bought my first Ciele hat, and I’m sold. Lightweight, rad colors and perfect for everyday and running wear. Pretty sure I need all the colors.
