It’s been a stressful couple weeks. Between the 47th trip up and down the stairs hauling furniture in and out, scrubbing wood floors and living out of boxes – moving is a LOT of work, even if it’s only seven blocks – life is momentarily in disarray. And, between finding a new home for my hairspray and housewares, a wicked head cold nearly knocked me out (you know it’s bad when during a normally blissful vinyasa yoga class you’re counting down the seconds until savasana).
Throughout it all, my mantra:
Because when you’re fully present every single day – not pining for the past or fretting about the future – amazing things happen.
And, they are happening… the combining of households has been more wonderful than I could have imagined (and, honestly, if you would have told me one year ago – in the midst of wrapping up graduate school – that I would be living with my love, I would have laughed at you). Who knew that putting together IKEA furniture could actually be fun?!

So happy for you Erin and so glad you are blogging! Can’t wait to read more.
I’m working on being present and just being (instead of wishing I had a perfect job, etc.)
Thanks so much, Emily! I have to constantly remind myself to be present and enjoy each moment, too 🙂 Also, your blog is so great… I look forward to reading every day!
Can’t wait to see the new, improved place! Life does change, doesn’t it? Change can be VERY, VERY, good!
Indeed, change IS very good, Mom! Looking forward to your next visit 🙂
I am glad you got the Ikea stuff with the easy assembly. I love my brother dearly but him and a hammer aren’t exactly good friends 🙂
Ha! He’s coming along… I’m gonna make him hang a curtain rod tonight 🙂
