Some people drown their sorrows with wine. Me – I down them in pizza.
We spent the week after IRONMAN Canada pizza eating our way through Vancouver and Seattle. And it was wonderful. Because pizza six days in a row. But it was also awful. Because pizza six days in a row. By the time Saturday rolled around, I couldn’t stomach another bite.
Pizza aside, a recovery week in the Pacific Northwest is always a good idea. We spent a few days in Whistler and Vancouver and then took Amtrak to Seattle where we stayed until Saturday night (note to self: the red eye home is never a good idea).
Even though vacation was lovely, like the race I was unsatisfied when it was over. And I can’t quite put my finger on why. Guessing because my race disappointment hung over me like the forest fire smoke hung over both Vancouver and Seattle all week. Looking back, though, we had a fantastic time – but I can’t wait to go back and explore more of one of my favorite places ♥
With that, a look at our trip in photos…
Whistler + Pemberton
Vancouver
Seattle

I was dissapointed about all the smoke post race too. But so glad it wasn’t on race day! I guess that means you’ll just have to go back again so you can get some more of the incredible views. 🙂
It was so bad! Hope the fires are under control. It’s been hazy here in MPLS, too, from Canadian forest fires 🙁 And yes – will definitely be back! Hope your recovery is going well 🙂
Looks like so much fun and soo beautiful! Would love your trail/restaurant/coffee shops recs for the area if you have them!
It’s just lovely there! Are you planning a trip?! Shoot me an email and I’ll give you recs! 🙂
So much fun! You do recovery well!!! Did you go to Serious Pie in Seattle? That is my favorite pizza place there!!! Unfortunately the fire haze is never going away. We need some rain bad!!!
When we’re on the west coast we can’t not stay for a few extra days – west coast is the best coast! Gah – we missed Serious Pie! Next trip for sure 🙂 Fingers crossed it rains asap out there. The fires are devastating. Just heartbreaking 🙁
