Go the extra mile… it’s never crowded.
Clearly, here in the wintry Wisconsin north woods, it’s (literally) not crowded. Just me and the meditative crunch of my footfalls in the snow… the sound of my breath. Does running get any better? (Wait… don’t answer that.)
It’s runs like this – in the quiet dark of winter – that remind me: it’s the small things like that extra mile that can make all the difference. This is when the season really begins.
So, ask yourself… am I going the extra mile? Am I giving it my all each and every day? Am I being intentional with my actions and words? Am I swimbikerunning [insert activity/career/etc.] to the best of my ability at each step of the season? Am I surrounding myself with positive people who encourage me to be the best version of myself?
That extra mile… it’s worth every step.

such a good reminder. the snow crunch under foot steps really is meditative — one of the best sounds, in my opinion!
Totally agree! Meditative miles 🙂
Thank you for the reminder. Somedays I need to be more intentional with my words and actions…I think it would help me be a happier person.
You are welcome. I’m with you… it’s a daily reminder for me!
LOVE this!
Thank you, Beth!
Love this post Erin. The questions are certainly some that I’ve been asking myself lately. It’s this time of year where the end goals seem so far away that it is hard to keep pushing through, let alone go the extra mile. But giving that extra effort and being intentional with each workout now will definitely pay off in the end!
Yes! Head up, heart out and keep moving forward! Gonna be a great year for you, Kelsey 🙂
beautifully said erin! I agree with you 100%, I think this time of year is when champions are made… this is when the foundation is set and it’s necessary to go that extra mile. While I am ‘so over’ winter, I know that all of my hard work is going to make me that much stronger come spring! I also love the quiet running this time of year:)
You are exactly right… hard work in the winter reaps big rewards come spring and race season. Can’t wait to see yours unfold!
Sure is friend!
And I like that unique sound made from walking on snow 🙂
Yes! Me, too! It’s so calming, right?!
