It was a gloriously relaxing recovery week. Post IRONMAN Canada, we slept a lot, caught up with family, and ate our way through Whistler, Vancouver and Seattle (not hard to do when there’s fresh seafood involved).
Being tourists in the beautiful Pacific Northwest helped curb the post-race depression… at least a little bit (more on that later). But, with really zero exercise all week (other than a ~20-mile cruiser bike ride around Van and a ton of walking), I felt like a slug by the time we flew back to MSP Sunday night, my legs itching for some serious swimbikerunning.
Here’s a look at the week after IM in photos…
whistler
Highlights: Peak 2 Peak gondola (with a glass bottom! amazing views, but it was a little creepy being up that high), dinner at La Bocca, brunch at Wild Wood Bistro, hanging out with my family (including the cutest niece ever!) and fresh berries from the Blackcomb farmers market.
vancouver
Highlights: cruiser bikes along the seawall, walking around in the rain, lunch and dessert at The Flying Pig and brunching with a German couple about their cross Canada bike trip.
amtrak
Highlights: The gorgeous scenery!
seattle
Highlights: beautiful sunny skies, a clear view of Rainier, hiking in Discovery Park, Pike Place Market, the ferry to Bainbridge Island, seafood feast at the Crab Pot and brunch at Homegrown. Thank you, Kelsey, for your lovely hospitality!

Amazing photos!
Sounds like you guys did post-Ironman right!
We stayed in Whistler until Wednesday when the pouring rain drove us out of town!
How is your body doing with recovery? I’m itching to go for a run but am going to try and hold off until next week.
