IT’S RACE MONTH!
Somebody pinch me. I’ve said it before, but how can IRONMAN Canada possibly be just two weeks out?! I couldn’t be more excited!
This month’s goals revolve around this little 140.6 race on August 25β¦
stay positive
It is far too easy to forget about all the hard work I’ve done the past eight months when I see the 20-hour weeks or century after century everyone else is doing. While I’ve had my moments of comparison (because who doesn’t?), my attitude throughout training has mostly been positive. What’s the point if it’s not, right? Helen Keller said it best (see below).
no sweets
It’s no secret my sweet tooth is occasionally out of control. I can’t even tell you how many pints of Talenti salted caramel gelato Nick and I have eaten in the past few months or how many times we’ve visited Cow Bella Gelato. But, in the two weeks leading up to race day, we’re cutting out all sweets. That’s right; no more gelato, dark chocolate or coconut macaroons. *sigh* But, you can bet there will be plenty of celebratory treats after the race!
enjoy the taper
Heck, yes, I will enjoy the taper! As much as I love swimbikerunning all day everyday, not gonna lieβ¦ I’m excited to breathe a bit easier, eat dinner at a somewhat reasonable hour and get some serious sleep.
enjoy the race!
Smile, stay positive and enjoy every single step. It’s gonna be a good day π

You are so awesome… I can’t wait to hear how it goes in two weeks. Enjoy your taper! π
The Talenti Salted Caramel Gelato is amazing and definitely a vice of mine! Now that the summer is winding down, I feel compelled to show some restraint.
Enjoy the next few weeks and good luck!
You have done the work and you will have a GREAT race!! Congratulations on making it to the taper!! Enjoy it…it goes by quick π
