Other than skipping Sunday’s 2,900-yard swim – dang you, 1.5 glasses of wine on an almost empty stomach! – my week post-vacation was solid.
Rest does a body good apparently.
So good, in fact, that I ran my fastest 13.1 ever on Saturday (1:45:26). I certainly wasn’t expecting it to happen, and after the first mile at 8:52, thought I’d run closer to two hours. But, I found my groove around mile three, settled in and felt good pounding out 7:50s. My focus the last really tough two miles (there was near puking): Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.
One plus of this week’s #garminfail: Nick let me use his 910. Love seeing mile splits! Glad I won my bracket because I need one of these asap!
Other running highlights: Tuesday’s hour of treadmill rollie pollies #runforBoston. I still can’t believe that happened and am so thankful my friends who ran Boston are safe. Love + light to Boston…
One plus of having a partner in crime who’s also training for Ironman Canada: a personal photographer. Nick finished his workout before me on Friday, so he snapped a few pics and took a video of me swimming. It’s the first time I’ve seen pics of my form… not sure if it’s good or bad?
Serious #garminfail last week. After updating its software, my Edge wouldn’t even turn on. So frustrating! I used Nick’s for Friday’s bike, and on Sunday, mine decided to start working again.
In non-training news…
I worked all week in Utah where it was much more springlike than in Minnesnowta…
…visited Bridal Veil Falls near Provo, which wasn’t a bad way to spend a Thursday morning…
…and, spent Saturday night catching up with my sister, her bestie Kim, my cousin Margaret, and these two sweeties.
Weekly stats
10 hours, 12 minutes.
Swim: 3,600 yards, 1:27:07
Bike: 43.24 miles, 2:49:19 (trainer)
Run: 32.57 miles, 4:45:23
Yoga: one class, 60:00
Strength: 10:00
This week: My legs are crazy sore from Saturday’s long run, so today is an active recovery day with yoga. Double workouts the rest of the week!
Have a super week, friends!

That’s a pretty sweet Garmin! Nice week of workouts. Are you back in town for awhile? I’m back the later half of this week if you can get together 🙂
It is! I need one 😉
Yes! I’m back! We should get coffee this weekend!
Sounds like a solid week even with all the travel! Great work!
Thank goodness running shoes travel well! Thanks, Page!
I feel you with the two-a -days! great half time Erin!
Two-a-days are kinda fun, aren’t they?! Thanks, dear! How’s running going for you?
Nice! I’m training for my first Ironman! I enjoyed reading about your training and can relate.
Awesome! Which one? How’s it going? I need to follow your blog!
Louisville – but it’s not till 2014. I won’t be in the US until then. I will follow you too! Gotta surround myself with awesome people!
Awesome! Nice work and with travelling too. Hope your garmin keeps working!
Thank you! It’s worked both times this week, so crossing my fingers it continues 🙂
That is one AWESOME 13.1 time. I really hope to break 1:50 this year and need to get on it! I was thinking this morning in the pool that I need to get working on my form. Video is a great idea! I usually don’t count laps when I swim, but how long do you go for? I need to start increasing my distance for sure….luckily my first race is only a 1/3 mile swim!
You WILL break 1:50 this year, I know it! Swim time… I usually swim 60-75 minutes and do lots of drills, which make it go by waaaaay faster. And, it’s kinda fun! How’s your training going?!
Ok Thanks for asking. I haven’t done well with my long runs for the half but my tri training is really fun. I’ve been swimming once a week but only for 15 or 30 mins. I will be ready for June’s sprint tri for sure!
