NEW BIKE DAY! NEW BIKE DAY! NEW BIKE DAY!
I feel like a kid on Christmas morning 🙂
My sweet new wheels – an Argon 18 E-118 – arrived Tuesday, and after picking it up at UPS, I made Nick immediately put it together so I could hop on for a quick spin. He made a few adjustments, so it fits all right for now, but it definitely needs to be fit properly prior to any serious riding.
My first real (trainer) spin was Thursday morning, and wowza, what an adjustment from my Trek Madone. After a 15-minute warm-up, I did 5 x 1:00 high cadence spin-ups with one minute easy in between each. I swapped the rest of the 60-minute spin (one-legged drills) to ride on and off in aero, which isn’t exactly the most comfortable.
Different muscle recruitment = tired legs.
Crunched in aero = high heart rate.
I’ve got some work to do, but cycling is my favorite of swimbikerun, so I’m looking forward to lots of time in the saddle.
I can’t remember when I started following Hailey on twitter (likely from a SOAS Racing tweet), but when she posted her Argon for sale, I knew I had to have it.
So, a huge THANK YOU to #teamSOAS teammate + all around fab lady, Hailey, and her hubs Mark. They packed up the bike – my new bike! – with care and shipped it last week while in the midst of packing for Ironman Los Cabos when they had a zillion other things to do. It arrived in perfect shape (seriously, it looks brand new… not a single scratch) and is exactly the bike I imagined training on for my first 140.6.
SERIOUS #bikelove!
