As I planned out my 2013 race calendar in January, there was one distance missing: A half marathon. It’s been a few years since I’ve ran an open 13.1 and even longer since I’ve ran one on trained legs. And, with all the iron{wo}man training this year, I’d love to see if I can set a new PR – especially considering the fastest I’ve ran 13.1 was my very first one in 2006!
So, I’ve added the Women’s Running Bloomington Half Marathon to the calendar. Part of the Women’s Running Magazine Women’s Running series (other locations include San Diego, Nashville, Scottsdale-Tempe and St. Petersburg), this race – along with the Women’s Running 5K – is June 16 in Bloomington. Best things about it: a two-day women-focused health + fitness expo (gear!), cheers zones + bands along the course (who doesn’t love a little live music?!) and a pretty sweet medal (I’ve seen a sneak peak; it’s awesome). Even better, the race benefits Girls on the Run Twin Cities.
Not only am I excited to be running this half, I’m even more excited to be a #runspirational for it. That means I’ll be updating you about my training (and hopefully you’ll chime in with your runspirational stories, too!) as well as other training + race tidbits between now and race day.
Interested in running 13.1 miles with me? Sign up today with the code SWEAT and save $10 on your registration fee (it works for both the half and 5K)!

You will DEFINITELY break 2:00! 🙂
I wish I could come and run with you!!
I wish you could, too, Emily!
I’d love to do a Women’s Running race. Is this in Indiana? I’ll have to check the date!
It’s in Minnesota (a MPLS suburb) 🙂 but, you should road trip and run it here!
I was just telling the boy this weekend that I want to visit MN. I didn’t know that IL, IN, and MN all have cities called Bloomington. I will check it out!
Hi Erin,
I’m planning a small series on my blog about finding balance in your training, and was wondering if you’d like to contribute and do a guest post? Please email me at ieat.irun@yahoo.ca if you’re interested.
Thanks, Danielle
I would love to! Thanks for asking, Danielle… I’m flattered! Will email you… 🙂
