And, week one of official Ironman Canada training is in the books! My calendar included a little bit of everything this past week, including two pool workouts (along with spinning, lots of running and yoga). After not swimming for the past three weeks, it felt fantastic to get back in the water. I’m not fast by any means, but you gotta start somewhere, right?
Times from today’s 300s: 5:38 / 5:30 / 5:29.
Nick got me my first Timex this week (how did I have multiple Garmins before a basic Timex?!)… oddly excited about it!
Coach Joe also has me doing leg press a couple days a week to increase my power on the bike. Aside from all the lifting I used to do at CrossFit, it’s been years since I’ve used an actual leg press. I will be sore tomorrow!
This week’s non-training highlights…
Flowers from my fave, just because. So lovely to come home to these beauties in the center of the dining table.
And, a quick run through the Sunday snow after a Birchwood brunch. Loving the pop of bright wunder unders. Hurry up and be spring already!
A couple other updates…
I made the first payment on my tri bike!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m just a little excited about it 🙂
In big toe news, it still hurts. I’m still modifying at yoga to keep pressure off of it in chatarunga and three-legged down dog. Thankfully, it doesn’t bother me when I run or bike.
And, in heart news, I’ve been feeling much better the past week. Dr. Johnson read my tests, and everything is completely normal. He recommended I have my thyroid checked – which was done on Friday, results pending – and said if the abnormal rhythm continues to bother me, he would do a stress echo. Hoping that doesn’t have to happen.
Weekly stats
Swim: 4,000 yards, 1:41:41
Bike: 27.41 miles, 2:01:58
Run: 17.35 miles, 2:46
Yoga: two classes, 2:00
Next week: I fly out Tuesday for Cheyenne, Wyoming and won’t be home until late Friday. The running shoes will be packed, as will my travel yoga mat.
What’s on your training calendar this week? And, who else is ready for spring?!

SPRING! and those wunder unders…saw them at Lulu, they are lovely.
I have been focusing more on legs too. I need to build some more muscle for long-runs. Congrats on week #1!
Thanks, lady! Strength training is SO important… I need to remind myself to always make time for it.
Hope 26.2 training is going well!
I agree, strength training is where the results are.
Look at you working out in your lulu fab style! Were all those workouts you did separate? Or did you double up some days? Either way…those are all rockstar distances. Wayyyy better than I could do!
A girl’s gotta look good, right?! 😉 I double-up some days so I can fit it all in! Back to early mornings! And, you totally could do it!
Woohoo! Nice goggles by the way. 🙂 Maybe I’ll do some 300s today too and your times are great!
They’re the best ones! Are you back to swimming? Thank you! I am clueless when it comes to swim times 🙂
Good luck at the birkie this weekend! I’ll be there cheering for you!
awesome that you found your travel yoga mat! i even have a timex – just no garmin. seeing as i don’t run and only bike to places with food:)
I’ll never travel without it now!
Ha! Runs and bikes that end someplace with tasty food are the BEST 🙂
I think I need those wunder unders, adorable!
I will be running/ellipiticalling/barreing this week. 🙂
You do! And, are you loving barre? I have a feeling it would kick my butt!
You and I have the same Sorels! The rubber bit on mine are navy with orange lining though, I love them!
I tried Crossfit for the first time this past weekend, and my legs still hurt 🙁
Hands-down, the warmest boots and a must for any winter 🙂
Hope you’re recovered from CrossFit! Did you join a CF gym? Are you liking it?
Yay for the first week of Ironman training! Nice job, lady!
Thank you, dear! Welcome home!
Thanks!
