Work travel to Charlotte threw off my week a bit. Thanks to a crazy couple days of meetings, I wasn’t able to explore the city via running like I’d hoped, but I did manage a 5a CST dreadmill run in the hotel fitness room. Two other runs, including a 6.26 miler down Summit – my longest run so far in 2013 – rounded out the week.
Every muscle in my body ached for yoga this week (I did a few sun salutations in my hotel room, but ewww… I need a travel yoga mat!), so after an awesome 70 minutes of intervals at Urban Tri on Saturday morning, I got my om on at candlelit yin yoga at the CorePower Edina studio. From butterfly and shoelace to dragon and sphinx, pure asana bliss. I was so relaxed, I slept in savasana for at least 10 minutes at the end of class.
This week’s non-training highlights…
Per doctor’s orders, I started taking a Vitamin D supplement (2,000 IU). A blood test showed my levels were insufficient – 27 ng/mL when they should be above 30 ng/mL. Maybe it’s in my head, but I feel tons better already. Fish oil’s back on the daily regimen, too.
Friday night date night at the MIA exhibit China’s Terracotta Warriors. I’m still in awe of this marvel and could have spent a few more hours taking it all in.
And, on Saturday night, Nick, Sonia and I spectated at Red Bull Crashed Ice. Insanity. And, a beautifully lit cathedral.
Weekly stats
Bike: 38.69 miles, 2:39:38
Run: 11.71 miles, 1:47:52
Yoga: one class, 60:00
Next week: I start training with my new coach on February 1! More on that to come 🙂
Have a fantastic week, friends!
How was your weekend? Anyone get out and run? Has anyone else seen China’s Terracotta Warriors?

I take vitamin D too! There’s no way to get all we need during these cold winters. I didn’t get in a run this weekend, but I’m planning on getting back to the track this week.
Vitamin D is definitely mandatory in the midwest! Good work on the track workouts! I need to start with those again soon, too!
i want to get tested for vitamin d deficiency too! i need to find a new doctor – mine is pretty by the book about EVERYTHING.
It was a super quick + painless blood draw. Are you looking for a family practice doc? I have some good recommendations!
Can’t wait to hear more about your new coach! I’ve been thinking of exploring that option too.
More info this week (probably tonight actually)! We should chat!
YES!
Vitamin D! crazy how it can sneak up on you. That is awesome you have a coach for your training. Also, wanted to say that I like how you bring 2 towels to yoga…I do this too!
It IS! I’ve never supplemented and can’t believe the difference. Good call… always two towels at yoga! 🙂
I’ve been taking Vitamin D since I was diagnosed with celiac disease and selective IgA deficiency and definitely felt a difference quickly! Bravo for braving the cold to see the Red Bull Crashed Ice!! And looking forward to hearing about your new coach 🙂
I’ve taken vitamins before, but never vitamin D… boom, it works! Was your celiac test simple? I really should have one done…
More to come on my coach! Hope you’re running is going well 🙂
