I’m trying something new for weekly workouts this year. While recapping each day in detail has been a fun way to log my training, it’s been a LOT of work to write and photograph. So, in 2013, I’m adjusting. There will still be a recap each week, but it won’t be as in-depth. Instead it will touch on the week’s highlight(s) with a photo or three along with a chart of the week’s totals.
Feedback welcome!
So, this week’s highlights.
Prior to ringing in 2013, Nick and I skied at Como Park on Monday afternoon. Thanks to dwindling daylight, we only had time for one loop – which was probably a good thing. One: I was crabby; and, two: My skis had zero wax. What a terrible combo. My crankiness wrecked all the fun, and I got the wind knocked out of me when I fell on one the easiest downhills.
On New Years Day, I set my 2013 intentions – compassion + kindness, strong body and be present – during 108 sun salutations at the CorePower Yoga Highland Park studio. A blissful practice, lead by lovely lululemon Grand Avenue ambassador Amelia, next to Nick and friend Sonia. So much beauty and breath.
And, on Saturday, after a three-week hiatus – I left my Madone at the shop for a looong overdue tune-up – I got back on the bike at Urban Tri‘s pedal for pancakes. Twenty-five riders – a fantastic turn-out today! Love that Urban Tri generously opens its doors, clears out the retail floor and sets up trainers for a kick ass sweaty hour of spin each week. Also awesome: My bike spins like a champ. It’s amazing what functioning cables can do for shifting 🙂 Anyway, the work out consisted of a warm-up, six minutes of hard, six intervals of two minutes hard + two minutes recovery, six minutes of hard, and cool down. After not biking for a few weeks… ouch.
Weekly stats

This week: With a tentative spring marathon on the calendar – eeeee! – running is gonna pick up. I’m also planning a weeknight Frayed Laces trainer session and another spin at Urban Tri.
Who else planning is a spring 26.2?!

Which marathon are you looking at it?! 🙂 My spring marathon keeps switching between 2 right depending on my fitness level.
It’s tentatively Lake Wobegon on May 11. What two are you considering? How fun if we run the same one!
That bike picture looks awesome! What a great group you’ve got. I am super jealous!
MSP has a fantastic tri community… I feel so lucky to bike next to some incredible people 🙂
I can see why! I think chicago has some great groups too but we are pretty far out in the burbs for me to get there regularly. One day we will make it into the city!
Wooooo! spring marathon?!?!
That’s the plan! Currently looking at Lake Wobegon… eeek! 😉
