Monday, October 22 – the pool was the perfect way to start this busy week. A pretty chill, but energizing swim… a 500-yard warm-up, following by six 200s and a 100-yard cool down. Still loving the new goggles, too… even better that I don’t have raccoon eyes until noon.
Swim: 1,800 yards, about 42 minutes.
Tuesday, October 23 – I switched up my yoga routine this week and hit a C2 vinyasa at the downtown MPLS studio taught by Inanna. A calming + cozy flow punctuated by three meditation cymbal chimes while in savasana. Really, really lovely. (Has anyone else taken a class where the teacher’s used them at the end? Do you like them?)
Wednesday, October 24 – a relaxing rest day catching up on email and blog reading. So many inspirational posts to read this week… check a few of ’em here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here and here 🙂
Thursday, October 25 – mother nature flipped a switch this week… snow! Sad as I am to not bike outside, it was the perfect evening to spin my legs at CorePower’s real ryder class. I got to the Highland studio about a half-hour before Leah’s kick ass class… good thing, too, because all bikes were taken not long after. By the time it started, I was already sweating buckets, and the temp was pushing 95. Two sets of sprints and three hill climbs later, I could wring out my scoop tank and SOAS tri shorts. I’m in decent cycling shape thanks to a solid season on the bike, but wow, did ryder wipe me out!
Best of luck at the shiny new CorePower Yoga Austin studio, Leah! You’ll be missed in Saint Paul!
Bike: 60 minutes, about 15 miles.
Friday, October 26 – after not swimming on Wednesday, I couldn’t wait to get in the pool this morning. We played musical lanes… I started out in one, then joined Nick in his to make room for another swimmer, and then moved to another when it opened. Following a 500-yard warm-up, I swam a ladder: 100, 200, 300 + 300, 200, 100. No cool-down, as we got a late start this morning, and I needed to get to work for a meeting.
Swim: 1,700 yards, about 37 minutes.
Saturday, October 27 – how has it been 12 days since my last run?! Whoa. I was pleasantly surprised, though, at how good I felt. A little residual leg soreness from Thursday’s ryder class, but overall, it just felt good to be outside running in the bright 32-degree sunshine. That said, the rest of the fall and winter there will be, at minimum, one run each week.
Run: 3.66 miles, 28:40, 7:30 min/mile pace.
After a tasty brunch at Bon Vie in Saint Paul (good food, super small portions) with tri friends Suraya + Eric, I got my om on at Amelia’s lovely C2 vinyasa at the Highland Park studio. I normally arrive with plenty of time for pre-class savansana, but people were driving slooow today, so I arrived just five minutes prior to class – and, it was mats-inches-from-each-other packed. Such beautiful yogis, though, as they found space between their mats so I could fit in. Thank you! Between three of my favorite poses – tree, half moon and tripod headstand – the humidity increased from 20 percent to 60. Perfect.
Yoga stats: C2 vinyasa, 60 minutes.
And, I love Lance and the incredible Livestrong Foundation, and it’s probably too soon, but we couldn’t resist for the night’s Halloween party…
Lance + Dr. Ferrari
Sunday, October 28 – today just kind of got away from me, resulting in a really nice relaxing Sunday not doing much of anything. We brunched at our favorite neighborhood café, Birchwood, and started scheming our future plans (they’re big!). And, we ran some errands and created our t-shirts for next weekend’s 140.6 (thanks to my awesome sis for the design!).
Weekly stats
The first week with no outside cycling. Sad. I’m already going through Madone withdrawal.
Swim: 3,500 yards, 1:17
Bike: ~15 miles, 60:00
Run: 3.66 miles, 28:40
Yoga: two classes 2:00
This week: On Tuesday, Nick’s mom and I start the road trip to Panama City for Ironman Florida. I cannot wait to see the countryside, for a week of r&r, the beach!, cycling along the gulf, and cheering and sherpa-ing at Saturday’s 140.6! There’s quite the Minnesota crew racing (and blogger Frayed Laces), so it’s sure to be a fantastic day.
What about you… did anyone dress up and run the Monster Dash this year? Have a great week, everyone!
