Even though all I can think about is Ironman Canada at Whistler – whoa… I’m really registered! – and even though I’m sad the warm(er) cycling season is nearing an end – I think Tuesday night’s ride was the last tri shorts friendly one of 2012… thanks for biking with me, Sonia! – I am excited for winter.
Whaaa?! Excited for winter?!
Yup.
Minnesota winters = snow = skate skiing!
And, to keep me enthused about the next four months of pain cave trainer rides and 20-degree days – they really aren’t that bad – I registered for my first-ever Birkie (just in time, too, as it filled up on Monday).
This is the ski race in North America… a rolling 50K through the serene Wisconsin woods with a fantastic finish down Hayward’s main street. It’s been on my in this life list for years, and after cheering for Nick and pal Sam this past February, I knew I had to do it in 2013. Even better, eight of my triathlon teammates also signed up, so it’s sure to be a fun season on the ski trails.
So, post Ironman Florida, bring on a blizzard… or three!
