Traffic drives.me.crazy.
You know the kind… bumper to bumper, move just five feet at a time, take an hour to get home after work traffic. There are a zillion other things I’d rather do besides waste time sitting behind the wheel not moving.
So, when I got stuck in a ridiculous amount of it on Tuesday en route to Albert Lea, I wasn’t too happy. It took 65 – SIXTY.FIVE. – minutes to go just eight measly miles (that I could have biked in 20!).
Gah!
Sitting there, completely stopped on south-bound 35W, I quickly checked traffic via twitter to see what the hold-up was (don’t worry, traffic was completely stopped when I did this).
Turns out, there was motorcycle accident… so serious it funneled rush hour into a single lane.
Suddenly, sitting in parking lot traffic wasn’t so bad, and just like that, my annoyance + anger quickly faded.
The situation re-framed, a new perspective.
It can always be worse.
So, be thankful for today because life is short. Look on the bright side. Pursue your passions. Choose happy. Be present, and tell the important people in your life you love them.

Love you, too, M+D!
i hate that this accident had to to happen, but i love your words and your reminder. that’s really all that matters, isn’t it? thank you!
Exactly, it is all that matters. It’s so easy to take life and all its loveliness for granted… no more! So, thank YOU for inspiring me! I’m happy we “met” via the social media realm 🙂
You’re right, it can always be worse! Great perspective, Sis. xoxoxo!
Indeed, it can, Sis! Love you lots! xoxo!
So true. I often need reminders that a few minutes in traffic (or something else annoying) isn’t really that long in the scheme of things.
Exactly… little annoyances and traffic are mere blinks in the big picture! After reading The Happiness Project, I’ve been working on re-framing; it really puts things in perspective 🙂
Such a great reminder!
Today and everyday 🙂
