Ah, September. Where did you come from?
This month will forever signify clean slates, fresh starts and juicy possibilities. In honor of that – and thanks to some Jacki Carr inspiration… seriously, this lady speaks to my heart in her every post – here’s what I’m working on in September (and beyond).
Be grateful, every single day. I recently downloaded happytapper’s gratitude journal app… I am committed to writing every day at least five things for which I’m grateful. I truly have a lovely life, but in the midst of all the craziness, I often forget how fortunate I am.
Slow down, unplug and be present. My MacBook Pro and iPhone have been ruling my life lately. The @ mentions will be there tomorrow, blog stats don’t change dramatically every five minutes and the instagram feed can wait.
No more ice cream. Consumption of Izzy’s salted caramel is at an all-time pint high, and it’s stopping all of September.
Eat at home. There’s been a ridiculous amount of dining out lately, so starting this week, inspired by Jen + Dave’s no restaurant month, we’re eating home cooked meals 90 percent of the time. Best meal so far: this eggplant + ground turkey and spinach marinara over brown basmati (seriously, make this!).
#joblove. It’s the one puzzle piece that just doesn’t jive with my #lifelove.
Turn off the TV, and read more. First up: The Happiness Project. Then, re-reading The Fire Starter Sessions with pen + post-its in hand (after devouring it the first time around, this time I’m reading slowly, actively and with more intention). And, finally finishing Born to Run (it’s been on the nightstand for a few months).
Sleep more. The later sunrise has been making it tougher to cheat sleep by an hour. It’s time for an earlier bedtime + more shuteye.
What are you working on this month? What are your juicy possibilities?

I love your eating at home goal! I’m also impressed by Jen and Dave’s no restaurant month 🙂
My easy answer is to clean up my eating via the Whole30. I think I’m also going to focus on not over-scheduling myself as I tend to do — and get out on my bike more! This weather isn’t going to last forever!
Oh, that’s brilliant… I may have to work on not over-scheduling myself, too!
Let me know if you want to get out for a ride 🙂
Yeah!!! We should really do that 🙂
Deal… name the day 🙂
Why do you always have to have such awesome blog posts? You always make me think and you always make me want to push just that little bit extra. Dang you. Now, I have think….what I am going to work on in September? Hmmmm, I’ll let you know when I figure it out. Thanks for being you…a true inspiration in every sense of the word.
p.s. Your skydiving video was…INCREDIBLE!
Awww, Celeste, you’re too sweet! Thank you! I’m happy to be here to push you a little bit farther because that’s where the magic happens 🙂 I can’t wait to hear what you’re working on this month.
Also, thank YOU. You’re following your passion, and that, my friend, is inspirational!
Haha… glad you liked the video! Even though I can watch it, I still have to pinch myself that I did it 🙂
Great post, love the thoughtfulness and great intentions, wonderful things to focus on in what usually is a beautiful month!
Thank you, Amine! September is my favorite month… because of all the amazing possibilities + cooler temps and cozy sweaters 🙂
Beautiful September, serve it up! #inspired
You, too, dear! Cheers to a month (and life) of possibilities and #goalcrushing 🙂
erin! first of all – i’m creeped out by this post. the same books (BTR is one of my favorites!), izzy’s salted caramel (best ice cream ever!), more reading, less tv and internet, figuring out work stuff. literally could have written the same goals. so weird!
you should join our be happy linkup with this post! it’s perfect for it. i can’t wait to hear what you think of THP and i’m going to crack open the fire starter sessions tomorrow! i can’t wait to read it… but it’s huge! i’m a little nervous. link up info is in my post if you need it!
tell me more about no restaurant month… i know jen and dave b/c i used to work out at movement, but don’t anymore… my husband still does though so i’m suprised i haven’t heard of this!
Rita… whoa… so.weird. But, a fun weird!
love LOVE the happy linkup! Thanks for the invite 🙂 THP… pretty sure I need to do nothing else until I finish it. Just read march / aim higher / work today, and it resonated. I feel like I could have written it!
No restaurant month (they have a fb page, too)… eat food at home that’s made reasonably from scratch; food eaten elsewhere have to be made at home; 90 percent compliance. Seems easy enough, but pretty sure it’s gonna get harder as the month goes on!
so glad you linked! let me know if you want the wordpress.com code- i can email you it if you want it for your post!
hmmm. i don’t think i like the idea of this month. not one bit!
I’d love the wordpress code… thank you! 🙂
why can’t i find your email anywhere? here is the code!
Powered by Linky ToolsClick here to enter your link and view this Linky Tools list…
email me if that doesn’t work!
Dang it… I need to upgrade from free WordPress to be able to insert JavaScript. Lame. I won’t have much computer access until Monday, either 🙁
I love your goal list! I always feel like I need to slow down on the media consumption and staring at my computer screen and read more. The 30 days of cooking at home sounds like such a great challenge, it’s way too easy to fall back on old recipes that you do all the time or just order pizza.
And I’m totally going to download the gratitude journal app! 🙂
Thanks, dear! Slowing down and unplugging is a CONSTANT struggle for me… ugh! Definitely work in progress 🙂
Enjoy the app! I love that you can set up a daily reminder!
