I still can’t believe this happened.
Sixty amazing seconds of free fall from 13,000 feet…!
Skydiving has been on my in-this-life list for years. I originally threw it on there because it sounded adventurous… quite honestly, though, it seemed rather risky and a bit too out of character to ever happen.
But, apparently telling the world on the internet you want to jump out of a plane makes even one of your most terrifying dreams come true. (I thought you weren’t supposed to believe everything you read on the internet…!) Thank you, Amanda and Mary, for instigating such insanity!
Where do I start?
What an incredible, empowering, life shifting, endorphin inducing, perspective changing experience – one that couldn’t have come at any better time.
Most of August, my normally happy #lifelove has been clouded by a discouraging funk, and I’ve had a really tough time pulling myself out of it. But, in the split second oh-my-god-this-is-actually-happening-what-was-I-thinking moment right before I willingly jumped out of a plane 2.5 miles off the ground, something shifted, and my perspective changed as I plummeted 120+ mph toward the earth.
Perma-grin plastered on my face and wind whipping my mouth wide open, I realized: I can do anything – anything! – if I can do this.
There were suddenly amazing possibilities + opportunities smack in front of me, mine for the taking (though they’ve been there, unseen, all along; it just took a parachute to open them up). And, I’m taking them, thankyouverymuch.
Achieving your dreams + goals is pretty amazing, and I am full of gratitude and love for the thoughtful, wonderful people in my life who encourage me and push me out of my comfort zone to dream bigger, reach higher and make things happen. It’s things like this – daring and trusting to jump into the wide open blue sky of unknown – when life’s magic manifests.
Now it’s your turn. Pick one thing off your list, and do it. This week. Because there’s no better time than RIGHT NOW. Because there’s nothing more spectacular than realizing what you’re capable of – and, it’s much, much more than you imagine.
And… the photo play-by-play:

Ha! I didn’t tell my Mom I was doing it until AFTER I jumped! Great job, Erin! And, by the way, if it is the same “Scooter” (can there be more than one?), Anne did a tandem with her back in 2001 when we went together! 🙂
