I registered for this today.
My first-ever triathlon. Nine days from now. On April 28.
Eek!
I’m excited, but the butterflies have already started fluttering.
Given my love of cycling, running and [sort-of] swimming, why haven’t I done one yet? Because I’m a wuss about my hair, that’s why. And, my eyebrows (it’s a genetic thing; ami, you know what I’m talking about). Getting out of the water, soaking wet, with my fine ombré hair flat and matted to my head and my eyebrows half missing terrifies me. Suuuuuper lame excuse, I know, but I’m crazy self-conscious about it.
This season, however, that changes, and I’m doing not one, but THREE triathlons. No one cares what you look like when you’re out there – heck, no one will even notice my hideous hair or half eyebrows under my flash[y] hat. In fact, I doubt I’ll even notice my hair and eyebrows.
What matters is that you’re doing it – that you’re out there, gliding through the water, pedaling mile after mile, putting one foot in front of the other, reaching for, and achieving, your goals.

SOOOOOO exciting!! You are too funny 🙂 So…what other two triathlons are you doing besides this one? The Chisago one, right?
🙂 Yup, Chisago, and I’ve already registered for the Life Time Tri!
Awesome!
Good luck Erin! I know you’ll do great. So excited for you 🙂
Thanks much, Sonia! Any tips for a newbie? 🙂
Good for you, Erin! You’re going to be a stellar triathlete, I just know it! 🙂
Awww, thanks, Megan! The goal is just to finish this race (the forecast doesn’t look too nice) 🙂
What’s the deal with your eyebrows? I’m frantically looking at pictures of you right now, and they look normal browish to me…
The Klegstad side lovingly gave me only half an eyebrow on each side… nothing a little brow pencil and powder won’t fix 🙂
someday this could balance out the Weiler uber-brow… 😉
Haha… it would even out for a full brow, Amanda!
You are hilarious, I love it. Good luck this weekend, I know you will do great!
🙂 Thanks, Emily!
I have been thinking about this upcoming gustie Tri and I am so excited for you!!!
You will be great . . . and anyone looking at you and even thinking of anything critical should be out there doing it themselves. It’s a great way to figure out the transition stuff. Hey the worst that can happen, would be falling off your bike (and we’ve seen others just get right back on!)
Thanks so much, Mary! It’s gonna be so much fun — and you’re right, the best way to figure out the transition stuff. Always right back on if you fall 🙂
