Yesterday, I did something that scared me: I lifted heavy things. After a seven-month hiatus – was it really that long?! – I finally rejoined CrossFit St. Paul. (Honestly, there’s no excuse for my MIA-ness – well, except for maybe all the fun I’ve been having with this guy.) And, despite my inability to walk normally today (and probably for the next three days), squatting, dead lifting and wall ball shots were worth every aching muscle.
Here’s the workout.
Back squat (2-2-2-2-2):
Up to 73 pounds – a far cry from my 138-pound one rep PR. I certainly could have squatted more, but immobility this weekend isn’t an option; plus, I want to CrossFit Saturday morning.
21-15-9 reps for time:
Dead lift
Front squat
Kettle bell swings
Wall ball shots
On my DL and FS bar – a measly 53 pounds. (My sights are set on my previous 203-pound DL and 123-pound FS PRs!) A 12 kg kettle bell and eight pound wall ball rounded out my 10:17 WOD. Far from Rx, I did it, and it felt amazing (thanks for the words of encouragement, Joyce, Jess and Kristin!). It also left me wondering… why on earth did I take so much time off?! Nonetheless, I’m thrilled to be back at the box, lifting heavy things and WODing with such a fantastic community.
And, added bonuses to yesterday’s workout: I can still do an unassisted kip pull-up – yeah! – and met a chiropractor who can potentially help my SI joint dysfunction.
What are you doing today, or this weekend, that scares you?

omg I’m so excited that you’re back at it! Nice job! I’m cooking for my in-laws this weekend — does that count? 😉
Thanks, Hyedi! Cooking for your in-laws definitely counts 🙂 Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks 🙂
Loving the blog postings, Sis! What am I doing that scares me… Taking on business all alone in hopes of it working out or writing a resume.
Thanks, Sista! Don’t worry… scary as it is, everything will work out perfectly! Let me know what I can do to help. Hmm… maybe this is a good time to get that Etsy shop and sister blog up and running… 🙂
