writing everyday in january.

01/03/2017

It’s been awhile since I’ve consistently posted here. And, I’ve missed it… missed connecting with others, missed writing.

So, in the new year spirit of starting fresh, I plan to write every weekday in January. A lofty goal perhaps, especially given our new (demanding) puppy and scheduled training again. But, it’s one I look forward to. Posts likely won’t be long, but novels aren’t the point (and if I’ve learned anything at my new copywriting gig it’s that writing for the web is best when it’s concise + clear).

The point is to write. About anything and everything. My writing’s felt stagnant lately, so by making writing a daily practice, I hope it grows and improves – benefiting both this space and my professional copywriting.

As Herbert Lui says in this Medium article on why quantity trumps quality (and leads to higher quality):

The best way to refine your craft is to create a huge volume of work. Not to create the most perfect piece you can, but to create many pieces of work.

And, whether your craft is writing, painting or triathlon, the more you practice it – consistently – the better it will likely be. Here’s to a month of writing!

Oh yes! If a beginner didn’t have a coach and wanted a good Ironman training plan, what would you recommend?

Love that you will be writing more, I always find inspiration in your words. I love that lots of my favorite hobby bloggers are committing to posting more, makes me want to get back at it too. Congrats on the new puppy, so stinkin’ cute!!!!

Yay! It will be great to read more posts by you-I always enjoy them! I would love to see lots Luma and always learn a lot from your posts about cycling.

Remember the doberman I helped care for in her twilight years? Well her owner is thinking of getting a puppy (a Weimaraner) in the spring/summer and if so, I’ll be walking her until she’s old enough to join a group walking pack! I’m so excited.

Ooh I’d love to hear if you have any hacks for keeping life on track (autopilot?) when you hit peak training. Sonja Wieck did a post on some tips and tricks probably years ago and it was so interesting to read about her creative ideas! Since you’ve been racing ironman for a while, I’m sure you’ve got some ideas up your sleeve.

I’m excited to read going forward – happy new year!
