Twenty-thirteen was filled with all around awesomeness. Between two passport stamps – the Bahamas and Canada – and several road trips (Austin, Hallock twice and Madison), there was lots of swimbikerun, niece Finley’s arrival, testing my limits and finding new ones, my first 140.6 finish line, more happiness, more friendships and one step closer to #joblove. Fantastic as this year was, I’m excited to build on it for my 2014 goals + adventures… bring ’em on (and, more on both soon)!
With that, a look back at 2013 highlights in photos…
january
Sweating it out at pedal for pancakes, sunrise over Charlotte and a visit to the cardiologist for an echocardiogram (all a-ok!).
february
Sweet Finley arrived on Valentine’s Day (auntiehood is the BEST), San Diego sunshine and running in the Minnesota tundra with a few of my best gal pals.
march
Winter running continued late into the month (and practically until May), I ran the 100% Irish for a Day 10-mile (it was freezing) and happy new bike day to me! Love my Argon E-118!
april
Lots of quality time with my two favorite girls, a trip to Utah, the first outdoor spin on the Argon and an incredible week sailing the Bahamas with good friends.
may
The first tri of the season, Take the Hill sprint, was a balmy 39 degrees + rainy; Tuesday night time trials were a tad bit warmer. Both were super fun! There was also time for some road riding with friends.
june
Mom and Dad visited (they can’t stay away from Finley for long!), I ran my way to a 39-minute 70.3 PR and 3rd AG at Liberty Triathlon and was psyched about running 7:15 pace + 4th AG at the Waconia long sprint.
july
Training wise, there were open water swims on Lake Minnewashta and plenty of long runs on the weekends. The month’s highlight: celebrating two years with Nick. Crazy that we met at a stoplight on Summit while out cycling 🙂
august
IRONMAN Canada! Hands down, one of the best days ever. We spent the week following the race being tourists around Whistler, Vancouver and Seattle.
september
We volunteered and spectated at Ironman Wisconsin – and, signed up for 2014! It was a ball cheering on and meeting Katie and Beth, too (they both crushed it). Nick paced the lululemon Twin K 13k, and I ran it faster than I should have post IM Canada. September 21 was my Dad’s 60th birthday… so fun to celebrate with him! #60isthenew40
october
Faster than I should have ran again, but a PR at the TC 10 Mile! Sistas who work together usually end up dressing alike, too 🙂 And, Finley was baptized. Thrilled to be her godmamma!
november
Bring on power! My new Quarq Elsa arrived; cycling will never be the same (in a good way). Nick and I visied my home-home, Hallock, where we spent some time with my wonderful grandparents, Catherine + Ernie, and my 13-year-old weimaraner, Zoey. So good to be home!
december
We got a Christmas tree, and it’s been so cold in Minnesnowta my finger turned white. We packed up the bikes and road tripped with Nick’s mom to Austin to visit Nick’s sister and brother-in-law, Amanda + James. Fantastic cycling, outside! Stress fracture = wearing a boot. I’m absolutely thrilled to represent Coeur Sports as a member of their 2014 elite amateur team (#heartandcourage)! Christmas was lovely at home-home; family is everything. And, swimming… progress is awesome.
