ironman canada // week 13

05/07/2013

It was a good gear week. This sweet #teamSOAS package welcomed me home from work on Monday. Best gear ever, and I am thrilled to race in it and represent such a kick ass company all season! Not to mention my rock star teammates!

I may or may not have worn this SOAS Racing ambassador t-shirt three days in a row 😉

It was also a good training week. Here’s a snapshot of each day…

Monday

C2 vinyasa yoga. It had been a couple weeks since I blissed out on my mat. Savasana was lovely.

Tuesday

Swim + run + leg press. After a couple 5a snoozes, I crawled out of bed for a quick 1,900-yard swim. A 4.66-mile run after work rounded out my day.

Wednesday

Swim + run. Progress in the pool continues, and it feels great! I swam a 4:43 300 tonight (and at the end of my workout no less!), which is six or seven seconds faster than the last time I timed ’em. Yea!

Thursday

Long treadmill run with tempo. I was in Michigan (again) for work today, so I hit the same jhotel treadmill as last Thursday. I wasn’t really feeling a tempo run, but 80 minutes and nine miles later, I was glad it was done.

Friday

Trainer ride. Where is spring?! Rain / sleet / snow all day meant 90 minutes of steady spinning on the trainer.

Saturday

Take the Hill sprint triathlon + run. It was rainy and cold, but both Nick and I took home second place finishes! It warmed up in the afternoon, and I ran another 3.77 miles the late afternoon sunshine.

Sunday

Bike + run + kettle bells (skipped my 3,200-yard swim). Nick and I spent the morning cleaning while we waited for it to warm up outside. The dining table is nearly clean! And, dust bunnies be gone!

The afternoon turned out to be an excellent day for cycling. Sonia and I biked 40 miles around MSP and followed up with a 4.72-mile transition run. There isn’t a better way to spend an afternoon.

In non-training news…

Sunday soccer started again. I’m clueless when it comes to soccer, but it’s still fun to cheer on Nick.

And, I love this quote in Brené Brown’s Daring Greatly: Only when we’re brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.

Weekly stats

12 hours, 16 minutes.

Swim: 4,950 yards, 1:50:30
Bike: 76.72 miles, 4:48:18 (one trainer spin + two outdoor spins)
Run: 29.58 miles, 4:15:10

Yoga: one class, 60:00

This week: Tonight is my first-ever time trial… eek! The 11-mile TT is sponsored by Twin Cities Spoke; the series runs every other Tuesdays all summer in Medina. The rest of the week is a rejuv week, so less volume and an additional rest day (though I can’t promise I won’t bike!).

Have a super week, friends!
