2013 intentions.

2013 started on my yoga mat, surrounded by beauty and breath. Mat-to-mat with 80 other yogis (including Nick and friend Sonia), we rang in the new year with 108 sun salutations.

Guided by mala beads, lovely teacher Amelia lead us through three challenging sets. During each, I set three intentions for the year (January goals and long-term goals will be posted later this week).

compassion + kindness

Because the world needs more of this every single day. From helping a stranger carry their groceries to buying a meal for someone in need to being kind to YOU, small random acts of kindness have powerful impacts and can help change the world. It starts with me. And, it starts with you.

strong body

I don’t remember a recent time when I honestly loved my body. Over the years, I’ve abused it with no food, crappy food and too many consecutive days without rest. This year, I’m focusing on what my body can do – train for an iron{wo}man, crow into tripod headstand, rock a pair of wunder unders – instead of what I dislike about it.

be present

Life happens NOW, not tomorrow, not next month, not next year. Being present – breathing in be and breathing out present – powered me through today’s final tough 36 sun salutations, and it will power me through a sure to be incredible year.

Happy 2013, friends!

    Great intentions Erin!

My intentions are 1) Focus on one thing at a time (multi-tasking does not work for me)

    2) get NASM Certified and begin getting a CISSN certificate

    3) develop 2 business plans and exploit them!

love your intentions! i’m still working on figuring mine out, but i was too scared to attend one of the 108 sun salutations classes yesterday – so maybe that will be a goal for next year!

An excellent goal for next year… CPY may even do a 108 class at another point during the year, though I don’t recall the date.

Excited to see your intentions for 2013 🙂
