weekly workouts // july 2

07/09/2012

Monday, July 2 – today started another rejuv week… whoa, the past three weeks went quickly! Nick and I joined our P2 teammates for a quick spin down Minnehaha, around Nokomis and meandered back on River Road, Montreal and Fairview. A team that trains together, plays together… we talked triathlon at happy hour after our ride 🙂

Bike stats: 16.17 miles, 1:00:33.

Tuesday, July 3 – I had good intentions to bike after work, but by the time I got home after running errands – including a trip to the Mall of America where I forgot where I parked (a first! It never even happened when I worked at lululemon) – it was after 6p, and the heat + humidity zapped all energy. So, Nick and I celebrated his birthday a couple days early by going out for sushi with his mom. Isn’t the birthday mask creepy?!

Wednesday, July 4 – happy Fourth! Nick and I kicked it off with an early morning run in the sweltering sunshine. I ran sans Garmin, and for the first time ever, I only wore a lululemon sports bra. It’s weird to run without a tank covering my stomach, but I’m so glad I did; 85 degrees + a dew point of 71 = serious sweat.

Run stats: 5.5 miles, 52 minutes.

After our run, we packed up and headed to Madden’s on Gull Lake for a few days of fun with friends and s’mores.

Thursday, July 5 – we brought our bikes on our mini vacation, obviously, so we started the day with a great morning ride on County Road 77 from Madden’s to Nisswa. Lots of fun rollers and gorgeous scenery and lake homes. We spent the rest of the day boating, grilling and campfiring.

Bike stats: 33.59 miles, 1:58:27.

Friday, July 6 – happiest birthday to my fave person in the world, Nick! After brunch at the lodge, we spent the rainy rest day indoors relaxing, swirling birthday sparklers and playing bar twister.

Saturday, July 7 – following the drive home and an afternoon nap, Nick and I went for an evening spin to Hopkins. I love flying down the Greenway at 24 mph on his wheel!

Bike stats: 30.59 miles, 1:48:51.

Sunday, July 8 – today’s P2 brick at Lake Nokomis left me just… meh. While my bike and run are solid, the swim just deflates me. And, it always gives me a badittude. Bah! I really, really need to work on this…

Swim stats: about 1,200m and 30 minutes.
Bike stats: 13.31 miles, 46:20.
Run stats: 2.01 miles, 15:54.

Weekly stats

A decent week, though I would have preferred only one rest day instead of two and an open water swim since we were staying on Gull Lake (seriously, though, the lake is crazy busy, and it would have been pretty sketchy to swim). Running mileage was a little lower than I would have liked, too.

Swim: 1,200m, 30:00
Bike: 93.66 miles, 5:34:11
Run: 7.51 miles, 1:07:54

This week’s goals: My first serious triathlon is Saturday, and I’m already terrified. Workouts will be shortened a bit, but I’ll still be swimming at Highland, biking and running with my awesome team.

Is anyone else racing Life Time Tri this weekend? Good luck, and I hope to see you on the course!
